Influence of Built Environment on Micromobility–Pedestrian Accidents

The use of micromobility (MM), a form sustainable urban mobility which has expected effects such as reducing traffic congestion and greenhouse gases, been rapidly increasing across the world. However, this growth resulted in considerable number MM-related accidents. Most previous studies have explored MM user injuries to improve safety users, but threat pedestrians by is not yet fully understood. Therefore, study aims identify built environment factors contribute MM–pedestrian accidents using crash data Seoul, Korea from 2020 2021. Setting spatial unit analysis hexagonal grid with an apothem 150 m, we developed SZINB (spatial zero-inflated negative binomial) models for accidents, controlling autocorrelation, zero-inflated, overdispersion. model results showed that road intersections, sidewalks, subway entrances significant impacts on Thus, it should be suggested measures both are speed limits preventing sidewalks through modified sidewalk designs, installing stations near stations.
